New Year's Eve in St Louis

Hello Everyone!
We had a wonderful day today and met Ty & Patti's crew at the Arch and then went to the Science Center. It was a blast! Ty has some great shots of his family on his camera; he'll probably upload them when he gets home tomorrow.
Tom - we wondered how amazon has used copies of your book for sale.....have you been rat-holing them? =) Looking forward to signed copies!
Happy New Year!!!

I blowin' up in Norway

It's amazing what you can find when business slows and Google is working overtime. My book is available in Norway! It's $274 and I don't know the exchange rate, but I hope I get a cut.

So Exciting!!

Tom - we couldn't be more pumped for you! This is more exciting than Santa's visit!!!

So did you get to write the blurb on the back? I'm always curious if the author gets to write the blurb on the back.....

Scott Bustin' a Move

Maybe we can get Scott to dance like that next week after a few of his home-made beers!

Too Good!

That is, hands down, one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I had no idea Scott had moves like that.

Ian's Christmas Concert

Here's 59 seconds of really jumpy photography capturing Ian's performance in the 6th grade brass ensemble last night.

YouTube is so cool....since Scott was gone, once the video was uploaded he was able to see the concert while in his hotel in Pittsburgh.

Now if only I could hold the camera more still.....!!! Oh well. Great fun.

And kudos to Mary and Norm for tackling the bleachers last night to see the concert!

Merry Christmas Cardinal Fans???

Isn't it sad that we can't do better than Kahlil Green and Adam Kennedy up the middle? Last year, the two combined to hit .214. Heck, Izturis and Brendon Ryan can beat that....at half the price.

Why do we have to have revolving doors on SS and 2B?

A Note from Norm

First, allow Mary and I to join in wishing Patti a Happy 40th. We sang on Thursday and wished her well but a "gal" can't get too many good wishes on such a traumatic occasion. Just kidding, Patti. Also thanks to Julie for posting the Press Release on Eric. Eric and Nils were at our house a year or so ago and we can't tell you how impressed we were with Eric in how he has totally turned his life around and what a nice reward he has received. Unfortuneately, We don't have his E Mail address but his maling address is 7424 Vanessa Drive, Fort Worth, Texas, 76112. I'm sure he would appreciate a note from each of you as that side of my family has been rather inactive. Much Love to all. Norm

News about Eric Nilsson from Dad:

Eric wrote Dad a letter about a big award he receieved - a $5,000 honorarium from the Fort Worth School District - anyway here's the press release.

Lockheed Martin Chair for Teaching Excellence in Elementary Science - Eric R. Nilsson – Atwood McDonald Elementary School

“Awesome!” That’s how Eric Nilsson describes students. Although demographically diverse, all want to feel respected and accepted, he says. And students are both respected and accepted in science class, where they learn to “ask why or how” and to use proper tools to investigate. This teacher taps the Internet to stay current in science, sponsors an after-school Science Club, coordinates Family Science Night and arranges science seminars for peers with college professors as speakers. He also has designed and built an Outdoor Learning Environment. First obtaining donated materials, he encouraged parents and volunteers to join students on weekends to plant, irrigate and add paths, fences and benches. “Contagious energy and enthusiasm!” That’s how others describe Mr. Nilsson. Mr. Nilsson holds a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies and a Master of Arts in interdisciplinary science from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also earned associate degrees from Meramec College, Kirkwood, Mo. He has taught in the FWISD for 10 of his 15 years in the profession.

Dad's going to post Eric's address in case we want to send him a card.

Happy Birthday, Patti!

I don't know about YOU, Tom, but I didn't look that good when I was TWENTY! =)
Happy Birthday, Patti! Hope it was a good one, also hope to see you soon. xxxoo - Smiths

9th Inning Home Run

We had not seen too many deer the last week or so and we were basically willing to let the season end Sunday on a downer. Christopher and a friend actually went duck hunting yesterday morning and he sees this monster! His friend Travis also shot a deer yesterday! We spent four hours yesterday carving up both deer. Chris' deer weighed 160 pounds and we got about 55 pounds of meat from it.

Hope everyone had a great holiday and got home safely!
